Full Job Description

  • be responsible for providing effective safeguarding activity through professional leadership and safeguarding guidance.
  • ensure compliance across the Trust with Working Together to Safeguard Children (2026), Children Act 1989 and 2004, Care Act 2014, MCA 2005, Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards 2009 and local safeguarding procedures.
  • work closely with the team to provide contextual safeguarding and domestic violence/abuse and MCA & DoLS support across the organisation.
  • work in partnership with other health service providers and other agencies, both statutory and voluntary, to promote children and adults at risk welfare and wellbeing to keep them safe from harm, neglect and abuse., Work operationally with staff, patients and carers in connection with Adult Safeguarding, DOLS and MCA and Domestic Abuse issues. Review new patients referred under adult safeguarding and DOLS and monitor throughout their inpatient stay. Provide expert advice and support and comprehensively document in medical records regarding status of referrals and next steps.
  • Work closely in clinical settings with multi-professional staff to ensure that decision making is informed by expert safeguarding advice and that appropriate outcomes are achieved for patientsEnsue Making Safeguarding Personal (MSP) remains a high priority within WVT, ensuring the adult, their wishes and desired outcomes are at the centre of the safeguarding process. Support from the adult safeguarding team is crucial in helping staff understand and implement MSP so that an appropriate outcome for the individual at risk can be ultimately achieved.
  • With guidance from the LNAS and AP and DA Lead undertake safeguarding investigations relevant to the role. Identify and support the development of individual protection plans.Contribute to reports in relation to Serious Case Reviews (SCR) Safeguarding Adult Reviews (SAR), Practice Learning Reviews (PLR) and Domestic Abuse Related Death Reviews (DARDRS) formally known as Domestic Homicide Reviews(DHR) and contribute to other reports/reviews as requested by the LNAS.
