What You'll Do

As a Care Support Apprentice, you will:

  • Support clients with their morning and evening routines, including getting in and out of bed, dressing, washing, bathing and toileting.
  • Assist clients with mobility, physical disabilities, continence needs and the safe use of personal aids and equipment.
  • Care for clients who are temporarily unwell, including providing support with bed care, eating and drinking where required.
  • Provide compassionate care and support to clients who are receiving end-of-life care.
  • Promote clients’ mental and physical wellbeing through conversation, outings, reading, writing, hobbies and recreational activities.
  • Assist with light household duties, including making and changing beds, general tidying, light cleaning and emptying commodes.
  • Support with clients’ laundry and clothing where required.
  • Prepare and serve light meals and drinks, set tables and trays, clear away and wash up.
  • Complete accurate care records, contribute to client reviews and participate in training activities.
  • Follow all Caremark policies, procedures and confidentiality requirements.
  • Promptly report any significant changes in a client’s health, wellbeing or circumstances to the Field Care Supervisor or Care Manager.
  • Encourage clients to maintain their independence, choice and dignity wherever possible.
