Full Job Description
HMP & YOI Bronzefield is the largest female prison in the UK and Europe, operating within a highly secure, regulated environment. The site supports a diverse population, including women on remand, varying sentence lengths, young offenders, foreign nationals, and mothers with babies, with a strong focus on rehabilitation and wellbeing. This role sits within the Finance function, supporting the Head of Business Management in delivering an efficient, compliant, and high-performing financial operation across the prison. It requires a highly organised and detail-oriented individual who can operate effectively in a fast-paced environment, ensuring the smooth running of financial processes that underpin critical services across the site. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining financial accuracy, supporting internal and external stakeholders, and contributing to the overall performance and governance of the establishment.,
- Provide day-to-day administrative support across the finance function
- Manage core finance activities including accounts payable, receivable, reconciliations, and reporting
- Maintain accurate, secure, and up-to-date financial records in line with policy and compliance requirements
- Support audit and governance processes, ensuring adherence to financial controls
- Assist with high-volume transaction processing using both manual and system-based methods
- Respond to finance-related queries from internal and external stakeholders
- Work collaboratively across departments to support the smooth running of the prison
- Ensure all tasks are completed accurately and within strict deadlines, Financial Accuracy: Maintaining reliable financial records, reconciliations, and data integrity
- Compliance & Governance: Adhering to financial policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
- Stakeholder Support: Providing timely and accurate financial information and resolving queries
- Confidentiality: Managing sensitive financial and personal data with discretion

Essential: - Strong administrative experience within a finance function
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment Desirable:
- Studying towards a professional accounting qualification or finance-related degree
- Previous experience in a finance or administrative role
- Experience working in a regulated or custodial environment
