Overall purpose of the post:
To deliver an effective, high-quality business and administrative support service to managers and staff, supporting the operational delivery of services within the Children & Young People's Directorate., Provide effective administrative and business support, including data input, typing, diary management, and correspondence
Act as the first point of contact for routine enquiries, maintaining a professional and proactive approach
Support effective communication between colleagues, partners, and the public
Deliver excellent customer service, identifying needs and working to meet them
Assist with financial administration in line with policies and procedures under supervision
Ensure compliance with relevant policies, legislation, and codes of conduct
Organise meetings and conferences, including agenda preparation and minute taking
Accurately record and store data using electronic and manual systems
Support office equipment functionality and report faults appropriately
Produce timely and accurate reports as required by the service
Assist with the operation and development of electronic systems
Contribute to improving administrative systems, processes, and technology
Manage daily post, ensuring accurate filing and circulation
Participate in supervision, appraisal preparation, and required training
Work collaboratively with internal and external partners to achieve shared objectives
Share skills, knowledge, and experience to support team effectiveness
4 GCSEs at grade C or above, including Maths, English, and two other relevant subjects
ICT qualification such as ECDL, ICT GCSE, or equivalent experience
Experience required:
Experience of working as part of a team and using initiative independently
Confident communication with staff at all levels, partners, and the public
Strong IT skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office
Relevant administrative experience, ideally within local government or a confidential setting
Ability to meet tight deadlines while delivering high-quality customer service
Experience of minute taking and handling sensitive information relating to Children & Young People
Flexible and adaptable approach to work and priorities
