Administrative Assistant (Gap Student)

Westminster Under School is seeking a talented and enthusiastic Gap Year Student to join our team from September 2026 to July 2027 (term-time only). Gap Students play an important and valued role in the day-to-day running of the School and are regarded as full members of staff. This post offers a rewarding opportunity to contribute meaningfully to school life, while gaining valuable experience in an educational environment. Key responsibilities will include:

• Assisting with the daily running of the School, including supporting the Reception area
• Assisting with pupil registration
• Supervising pupils during break and lunch times
• Supporting and supervising pupils on school trips, including the possibility of one residential trip per year
• Providing coaching or support in games, art, drama or music, depending on individual strengths
• Managing lost property and providing general administrative support to staff at the Under School
This role is designed for a recent school leaver seeking a structured gap year experience in an educational setting. It offers valuable exposure to school operations and pupil support, helping to develop transferable skills that are useful for future study or employment. The role would suit an individual who is confident, self-directed and enjoys working with children. The successful candidate will be confident in providing support to pupils and staff across music, art, drama, sport and other academic areas, and will be proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook and similar tools.
