Full Job Description

We are seeking a highly organised and professional Administration Assistant to cover a period of Maternity Leave in our busy and supportive administration team. This is a key role providing high-quality administrative and clerical support to the school's leadership team and wider staff, ensuring the smooth and efficient day-to-day running of the school office. As a front-facing member of the team, you will play an important role in creating a welcoming, safe and well-organised environment for students, staff and visitors. Key Responsibilities The successful candidate will:

  • Act as a first point of contact, greeting visitors and managing the flow of people across the school site
  • Operate the school switchboard, handling and directing calls efficiently
  • Manage incoming and outgoing post and deliveries, including confidential documentation
  • Provide first aid and basic medical support to students and staff, maintaining accurate records
  • Maintain and update student records, including admissions, leavers and transitions
  • Support attendance administration, including post-16 provision
  • Manage administrative systems such as Parents' Evening bookings and student payments
  • Assist with free school meals applications and student bursary processes
  • Support the administration of school trips and enrichment activities
  • Undertake general office duties including correspondence, filing, and document preparation, We recognise that candidates may choose to use artificial intelligence (AI) tools when preparing their application.     We are looking for someone who:
  • Has experience in an administrative or office-based role, with strong data accuracy skills
  • Holds an NVQ Level 3 in Business Administration (or equivalent experience)
  • Demonstrates excellent organisational and communication skills
  • Is confident using Microsoft Office and Google applications
  • Can handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion
  • Is flexible, proactive and committed to continuous professional development
  • Previous experience in a school environment and a First Aid qualification are desirable but not essential.
