Full Job Description

Source and provide the case-notes required for coding, audit, and any other purposes as directed. Trace the case-notes using the electronic tracing system in line with Trust policy. Be point of contact for all direct and telephone callers to the department. Maintain and keep case note in the department or storage areas in an orderly fashion. Open, sort and file post delivered to the clinical coding department. Track and locate case notes as requested by clinical coders, auditors, trainers and managers. Act as a scribe and assist in the administration of Departmental Meetings. General administration and office duties, including photocopying, filing and scanning. Participate in in-service training. To observe the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974. Any other duties as discussed with the line manager.

An 12 month temporary opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our clinical coding department as administrative support. The post holder will be required to undertake the retrieval of case-note, answer general enquiries and provide administrative support to the coding team You will have excellent communication and organisational skills as well as the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines. Previous admin experience is essential and knowledge of working with PAS/HISS in the hospital environment would be highly desirable. A flexible approach to work is essential.,

  • Education of 4 GCSE's grades A-C or equivalent, including English
  • Computer literate with experience of MS Office software
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills with the ability to organise workload to meet identified deadlines

  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written at all levels within the organisation
  • Substantial experience of working in a clerical/secretarial / admin role

  • Ability and willingness to undergo further training according to the requirements of the post and personal development needs

  • Please note that the salary advertised is for full time hours. If this post is less than 37.5 hours per week, the salary will be pro-rata. For posts on Agenda for Change pay-scales, new entrants to the NHS will normally commence on the first pay point of the relevant band.
