Full Job Description

We are seeking to appoint an experienced, proactive, dynamic, motivated Sickle Cell nurse who has an interest in service development.

The successful applicants will be providing nursing care within a new pathway and will work alongside the emergency department and the haemoglinopathy service. They will provide triage, assessment, and care delivery to Sickle Cell patients who present to the Royal London Hospital Emergency Department. As such the role requires a high level of enthusiasm, drive, organisation and a willingness to learn.

InconjunctionwiththehaemoglobinopathiesteamsacrossBartsHealthNHSTrust the post holder will be responsible for the ongoing development and delivery of a high quality sickle cell service across the Trust.

BartsHealthNHSTrusthasbeendesignatedasaHaemoglobinopathyCoordinating Centre for sickle cell disease, thalassaemia and other rare inherited anaemias. The Royal London Hospital is the host site within the Trust and this post.

The postholder will be an experienced nurse responsible for triaging sickle cell patients presenting to the Royal London Emergency Department

They will be expected to provide excellent customer care for patients, which may include communication with distressed and anxious patients and relatives, treatingthemwithtactandempathy,ensuringtheprofessionalimageoftheTrustisalways maintained.

They will support the on-going development of multidisciplinary team working in collaboration with the red cell team and the wider clinical haematology nursing team, as well as other nursing colleagues on wards and in emergency care.

You will work as a highly specialised member of the red cell team to assist in enabling the patients to live as a productive member of society and reducing protracted inpatient stays.
