Full Job Description
An exciting opportunity for has arisen as band 6 Acute Brain Injury Clinical Nurse Specialist 1 year Fixed term contract to cover Maternity leave to assist the Acute Brain Injury nurse specialist team in providing care and support to the patients and families.The band 6 role is looking for someone to represent the Acute Brain Injury service across the hospital, in MDTs as well as family meetings., 1. To deliver specialist acute brain injury nurse advice within the Acute Brain Injury Service2. To coordinate a caseload of patients/clients3. To promote patient centered care and approaches, by ensuring that patients and families are fully informed about their treatment.4. To promote evidence based clinical nursing practice, in line with current guidelines, policies and protocols.5. To establish clear lines of communication within the specialty multidisciplinary team, to ensure a cohesive and holistic management of patients.6. To link with healthcare teams in order to increase knowledge and facilitate the care of this group of people in the community, local hospitals and/or rehabilitation centers.
The role demands high level communication skills, as well as the ability to deal with high levels of distress often displayed by patients and families. The candidate should be passionate in wanting to support the unique brain injury patient group often with complex issues as an inpatient and as an outpatient.
The candidate should be organised and efficient, confident in coordinating a case load of patients with support from the Acute Brain Injury nurse specialist team. They should have specific experience of the caring for patients with acute brain injury and a clear understanding of complex discharge planning involved.
The candidate would be expected to have participated in audit and be comfortable with the concept of clinical research. Microsoft Excel and Access skills are required to support the current team with data collection.
