Full Job Description

The Activities Coordinator role is typically provided Monday to Friday between 8:30-4:30 To plan and provide a diverse program of activities available for all of the patients on the ward, in consultation with patients and staff. To run group and 1:1 activities with patients. These activities will include physical activity, mental and physical well being activities . To provide activities on and off the ward, promoting use of outdoor spaces and the local community as applicable. To manage and maintain a suitable supply of activities stock and resources.

The post is responsible for providing a range of therapeutically engaging activities with groups of patients. The post holder will deliver activities independently and with other members of the team; and maintain activity resources. We welcome applications from individuals who have range of interests in doing, particularly those who have a passion or skill for: Exercise, music, gardening, cooking and creative activities. Experience of working with people who have experience of mental ill health, Autism, Learning Disability or trauma is beneficial. Ability to demonstrate a kind approach, enthusiasm for the role, resilience, physical fitness and basic IT skills are essential. The successful candidates will have genuine skills and interest in doing a variety of different activities, and able to motivate people who are experiencing mental health. They will have lots of initiative, good organisational skills and be able to work alone and as part of a team. Acute inpatients present with a variety of distress and the wards can be a challenging environment to with in, but also very rewarding for the right candidates. Resilience, compassion and ability to communicate with calm confidence are key attributes for this post.
