Looking for a new challenge in mental health? We are seeking to recruit a full time Activity Coordinator to join one of our Mental Health Wards based at the Warneford Hospital. Allen Ward is a 18 bedded female acute working age mental health ward, supporting patients who are in an acute crisis of their mental health diagnosis. The activity co-ordinator post forms part of the multi-disciplinary team, including Nurses, Doctors, Occupational Therapists, Psychologists, Health Care Assistants, Physiotherapist, Physio Technician, and Dietician. Each of the wards at the Warneford Hospital have an activity co-ordinator post, providing lots of opportunities to link up with others and receive regular peer supervision. Ward staff are required undertake PEACE training. This 5-day training course covers the curriculum relating to the prevention and application of Restrictive Practice and Interventions as detailed in the Restraint Reduction Network Training Standards 2019. Therefore, applicants need to have a good range of mobility and fitness to learn the physical restraint techniques taught on the course.,

  • Engage service users in physical and recreational activity appropriate to their individual needs and abilities.
  • Plan and co-ordinate a programme of activity under the supervision and direction of members of the multi-disciplinary team.
  • Organise and plan service user events in collaboration with MDT colleagues to promote inclusivity.
  • Develop and use practical and technical skills with service users, either through your own identification of need or as suggested by members of the multi-disciplinary team
  • Work with service users to improve their mental health, physical health and wellbeing.
  • Assist in identifying service user's strengths and needs in order to plan and implement suitable activities for groups and individual service users
