Full Job Description

The Accounts Payable Assistant will be responsible for maintaining accurate records of all company purchases and ensuring that all supplier invoices are processed promptly and accurately. The ideal candidate will possess strong attention to detail, excellent numerical skills, and a good understanding of accounting principles. The hours of work for this position are Monday to Friday 08:00 - 16:30, working hybrid from our Horncastle office.,

  • Review, verify and process supplier invoices accurately and in line with company policies
  • Maintain the purchase ledger by entering invoice details into the accounting system in a timely manner
  • Perform regular supplier statement reconciliations and resolve discrepancies promptly
  • Prepare and execute supplier payment runs within agreed payment terms
  • Respond to supplier queries regarding invoices, payments and discrepancies
  • Maintain accurate and organised purchase ledger records to meet audit requirements
  • Assist with month-end accounts payable reporting, including outstanding invoices and payment schedules
  • Work closely with procurement and finance teams to ensure smooth purchasing and invoicing processes
  • Identify and suggest process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy
  • Complete all mandatory training and comply with Health, Safety and Environment requirements

    Previous experience in a purchase ledger role
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and reporting
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g. Sage, IFS or equivalent) and MS Excel
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles and practices
  • Willingness to travel to other company sites
