About the Employer

This position sits within the Financial Planning and Reporting team, in Finance and Strategic Planning. The Finance and Strategic Planning team plays a vital role in supporting the University to plan, manage, and optimise its financial resources - ensuring they are used sustainably, responsibly, and in alignment with strategic objectives.

What You'll Do

Northumbria University is looking for a detail-driven and proactive individual to join our Finance and Strategic Planning team as an AAT Apprentice. This is your opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic finance environment while earning a nationally recognised qualification.

As an integral part of our finance operations, you'll play a key role in delivering high-quality financial services across the University. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting accurate accounting transactions and monitoring the University's income, expenditure, and balance sheet
  • Producing and distributing regular financial system reports to support decision-making
  • Contributing to annual budget preparation, monitoring, and statutory accounts reporting
  • Delivering exceptional customer service to colleagues and external stakeholders


Training Outcome

  • The role is initially 18-months fixed term, with the possibility of progressing onto the AAT Level 4 Diploma in Professional Accounting.
