Full Job Description

To carry out a full range of clerical duties that supports the efficient and effective of running of the Day Surgery and Endoscopy Unit (DSEU

1.To ensure the provision of an efficient and effective clerical service to the Day Surgery and Endoscopy Unit on a day to day basis and to work as a member of a team undertaking the full range of duties as required ensuring continuity of service.

2.To assist the Team Leader to effectively manage waiting lists.

3.To register and book patients for routine endoscopy procedures on the Units clinical system and the EPR system.

4.To schedule appointments requested by GPs for the Open Access Service including appointments made via the E-Referral system

5.Taking telephone messages and dealing with enquires passing them onto the relevant person if needed.

6.Confirming appointments with patients to ensure attendance.

7.To provide efficient and effective reception service to the Day Surgery and Endoscopy unit as a member of the team meeting standards set by the Service/Operational support manager. Acting as first point of contact for patients, families/carers and professionals, ensuring a welcoming and calm environment by presenting a courteous, pleasant and professional image at all times.

8.Registration and Reception of patients arriving for procedures using the EPR and Theatre system

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and pro-active individual to join our Day Surgery & Endoscopy Department.

We are looking for a self-motivated and highly organised individual to work within our Administration Team.

You must have excellent interpersonal and organisational skills, a flexible approach and be able to work under your own initiative. You will need to be a dedicated team player who has the ability to work professionally at all times. Excellent communication and customer care skills are expected. With the ability to work under pressure and to deadlines you will provide an efficient, courteous and professional service at all times. Knowledge of the healthcare/organisation environment is desirable.

You will be educated to GCSE standard or hold relevant equivalent knowledge/experience. It is essential that you have previous telephone experience and experience of working with various computer software packages.
