Company Description

Insight Cost Consultants Limited is a professional services firm specialising in cost management and quantity surveying for construction and fit-out projects. The company supports clients with accurate cost planning, budget monitoring, and value engineering to ensure projects are delivered efficiently and within financial targets. We have recently been awarded retail projects in London, hotel projects in Barbados, Jamaica, and London - therefore we are looking to expand our team. Insight Cost Consultants Limited works closely with developers, contractors, and other stakeholders to provide clear, data-driven advice throughout the project lifecycle. The organisation promotes collaborative working, professional integrity, and continuous improvement in its service offerings. Team members benefit from exposure to a range of projects and the opportunity to develop strong technical and client-facing skills.

Role Description

The Senior PQS (Professional Quantity Surveyor) will manage and coordinate cost planning and commercial management activities across multiple projects. This is a full-time, hybrid working role involving close collaboration with clients, design teams, and contractors. Day-to-day tasks include preparing cost estimates and bills of quantities, monitoring budgets, managing tender processes, and evaluating contractor claims and variations. The Senior PQS will review contracts, provide advice on procurement strategies, support value engineering initiatives, and produce clear, accurate cost reports for stakeholders. The role also includes mentoring junior team members, ensuring adherence to industry standards, and contributing to the continuous improvement of internal processes and methodologies.

Qualifications

  • Professional qualification or degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, or a closely related field.

  • Significant experience in a PQS or consulting quantity surveying environment, ideally in retail, hospitality, and commercial fit-out works.

  • Strong skills in cost estimating, measurement, and preparing bills of quantities, with proficiency in relevant QS software and MS Office tools.

  • Experience in contract administration, procurement, tender evaluation, and managing variations and claims.

  • Ability to interpret drawings and specifications, analyze project risks, and provide clear commercial advice to clients.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and presenting cost information to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.

  • Membership or eligibility for membership of a recognized professional body (e.g., RICS or equivalent) is highly beneficial.

  • Commitment to ethical, non-discriminatory professional practice and ongoing professional development.
