Full Job Description
Working with the 0-19/AHP Lead Research Practitioner and the research and innovation (R&I) team the post holder will play a key role in developing and supporting the widening of research activity building research capacity and capability across the 0-19 and paediatric specialties. The post holder will provide support for all clinical trial participants, facilitating high-quality research service whilst working collaboratively with colleagues including health, social care, local authority, academia and other agencies alongside investigators, research Nurses and members of the research team. The post holder is responsible for the management and growth of a portfolio of studies and caseload of patients participating in research trials/studies providing specialist care and advice to participants on all aspects of their involvement in trials, including identification, continuing responsibility for assessment of care needs and for providing high quality care that is timely, and protocol driven. This includes timely reporting of any adverse events. The postholder will also be expected to show key leadership qualities by initiating service improvement for the department and developing and managing other team members, such as Clinical Trials Assistants, Clinical Research Practitioners and band 5 Research Nurses and students., To work as a key member of the R&I Team, duties include:
- Foster a research active culture by promoting and supporting the widening of research activity within the 0-19 area and paediatric specialism, this may include community, public health, social care and commercial research studies.
- Maintain and further develop networks locally, regionally and nationally to learn and share best practice; this may include travel/visits to partners.
- Support the implementation of the Trust research strategy.
- Contribute to the service provided by the R&I department by participating in and facilitating service evaluation and improvements.
- Participate in development of standard operating procedures (SOPs), pathways in association with the R&I department, to optimise research practice.
- Participate in the development of departmental policies and procedures.
- In all respects the post holder must act in accordance with local Standard Operating Procedures (SOPS), the Nursing and Midwifery Code of Conduct, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), the UK Policy Framework for Health and Social Care Research (2017) and research regulations and legislation.
