Network Rail are in the early phases of a new £86 million pound project which will span across the next 4 or 5 years. They are looking for someone who specialises in estimating to join the team. The current Senior Commercial Managers within the team have been preparing some large business cases which the successful candidate will be doing high level reviews of. This is in preparation of the business cases being submitted to the relevant Government Dept's.
Predominately the work in which you would be estimating/reviewing will be Signalling/Track related however is not limited to this.

What you will do:

* Produce accurate and comprehensive estimates in a timely and efficient manner. Research and assess information from a variety of sources in order to prepare accurate estimates
* Control and manage the estimating process at project level.
* Develop and promote estimating good practice within Network Rail High Speed.
* All estimates should be produced in accordance with the requirements of the Guide to Railway Investment Projects (GRIP) and other company procedures and processes.
* Refer to the Investment Competence Framework for further details of core accountabilities.
* Evaluate feasibility of multiple options in the planning phase on the project.
* Support the Commercial Manager to provide a detailed pricing document in line with the scope of work and conduct tender evaluation.
* Other duties as would be expected to support future project estimates and funding requests.

Your experience will include:

Essential

* Qualified to basic standard in Estimating or Quantity Surveying.
* Relevant successful experience of provision of estimating and/or QS services.
* Understanding of project management, planning, risk and investment processes.

Desirable

* Membership of a relevant professional body with chartered status and/or educated to degree level.
* Experience in the rail and/or civil engineering industries.
