Geospatial Pricing Analyst

Are you an experienced Catastrophe Modeller or Insurance Pricing/ Risk Analyst with a keen interest in Geographical and Weather Perils?

We are currently recruiting for a fantastic opportunity with a leading insurer, recognised as a top employer, to join Geospatial Pricing and Analysis Team.

This position is an ideal opportunity for someone with a background in insurance pricing and/or data science (likely 1-2 years experience) who is interested in focusing on UK geospatial risks such as flooding, storm surge, subsidence and other risks/ perils in the natural environment. It would also suit a highly analytical, creative and numerate Cat Modeller (1-2 years experience) who is keen to consider a broader analytical role and gain exposure to new techniques for pricing including data science.

About the Team;

Reporting to an extremely approachable and open Manager, the team understand that geography is an essential part of understanding insurance risk. The Geospatial Pricing Team is a key component of the Home Technical Pricing Team and exist to:

* ensure claims costs are covered by accurate setting of the risk price for home insurance products

* leverage the power of geospatial software and big data to better understand and price risk

* creatively use existing information assets, evaluate new sources of data and explore new analytical techniques to esure market position

*

The role involves;

* building, developing and monitoring weather-related home risk premium models using traditional and alternative modelling techniques

* being creative and inventive with geospatial data to produce rating factors to help us better predict risk

* performing analysis of claims data to improve our pricing of risk accumulations and Flood Re

* assessing our performance after large weather events, communicating findings and recommendations to a wide variety of business stakeholders

* supporting the wider Home Technical Pricing Team in the delivery of projects and objectives, ensuring that deadlines are met

* understanding how our work fits in with the wider business, working alongside colleagues in our Underwriting, Claims, Capital and Reinsurance teams

* developing yourself and your commercial awareness to maximise your personal contribution to the team

Requirements;

* experience in either an insurance pricing, data science or catastrophe modelling role

* educated to degree level or equivalent in a numerically-focused subject

* creative and analytical problem solver

* be self-driven and a motivated team player

* confident in making decisions and using your own initiative

* have an interest in geography and the natural environment

*

Beneficial;

* traditional / alternative predictive modelling techniques and modelling software

* programming languages (e.g. SAS, Python, R)
