Youth Worker (Part-time)

1. Create and deliver safe, innovative ways to engage and reach young people, which are responsive to the needs of young people.

2. Develop voluntary and trusting purposeful relationships to facilitate non-formal and informal education, to build 'soft' skills, 'hard' skills and empowers individuals.

3. To proactively achieve programme KPI's and contractual targets.

4. To take personal responsibility for the understanding and application of the Inspire values and the Youth Work Code of Ethics.

Main Responsibilities:

1. Coordinate and participate at drop-in sessions, detached youth work, mobile youth work, 1-2-1's, assemblies, meetings and other activities in order to support young people, including evening and weekend sessions where required.

2. Ensure that youth work activities are safe, and all young people are treated with respect, where differences are valued and acceptance and understanding of others is promoted.

3. Lead the delivery of youth work sessions, ensuring the safety and engagement of all participants, including responding to young people's challenging behaviour in line with codes of conduct.

4. Provide individual support, mentorship and coaching, which sets appropriate goals to address the individual's needs.

5. Work directly with individuals or small groups to facilitate personal, social, education and political development, which addresses their needs and supports them to develop the skills and confidence to make decisions and act on issues that affect their own lives, the lives of others, their communities and society.

6. Through one-to-one and group work empower young people to establishing goals, overcome challenges and signpost to other agencies who can offer additional support where required.

7. Organise and/or participate in community-based projects which provide young people with avenues to express themselves, raise concerns and discuss their aspirations.

8. Ensuring that young people are partners and leaders, helping them gain influence over issues they are concerned about, including the vision, management, and delivery of youth work.

9. Run programmes of support to enable the young person to make choices about their present and future options, regarding education, training, health, employment, drugs & alcohol, sex and social situations.

10. Arrange staff rotas, supervise sessional youth workers and volunteers as required.

11. Manage resources and purchases in line with the budget and agreed limits.

12. Being the point of contact for local young people, referral partners and Parents/Guardians and other support agencies, where required representing the organisation at stakeholder meetings and events.

13. Keep internal systems up to date daily including the VIEWS and Outcomes Star systems to record customer journey alongside other data entry required as part of the role.

14. Maintain a good understanding of the local area, including networking with local organisations, business, and community contacts in your area.

15. Adhere to Health, Safety and Safeguarding guidelines and ensure these are prioritised as part of the planning and delivery of sessions.

16. Work alongside other Inspire teams to support delivery and aid recruitment for programmes if needed.

17. Continually build knowledge of external courses, programmes, and agencies to aid your knowledge of signposting opportunities.

Salary: Unqualified £23,112 - £25,731 per annum (pro rata)

Qualified £24,087 - £26,377 per annum (pro rata)

The working pattern for the role consists of: Wednesday afternoon and evening shift; Thursday daytime shift and Friday afternoon/evening shift. Total 22.5 hours per week
