A bit about the role

Skills Plus is a skill's building intervention for young people in or leaving care aged between 14 and 24. We provide therapeutic interventions based on Dialectical behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to improve the emotional and social well-being of our service users. Training will be provided.

The aim is for young people who experience significant distress and relationship difficulties, to have the practical and life skills to enable them to transition into happy, healthy adults. Your role as a Young Person's Practitioner is to provide a support system using various means which will help them achieve their future goals.

How you'll help to create brighter futures

You will be part of a team to provide support to young people in developing in areas such as mindfulness skills, emotional regulation skills, distress tolerance and interpersonal effectiveness skills by:

  • Managing a case load of Young People across North Wales.

  • Delivering Life Competency skills groups to promote independence.

  • Using DBT/CBT tools to encourage engagement with CEYP and to also explore emotions and improve their health and wellbeing. (Training will be provided)

  • Providing a high-quality customer focused service to service users on a needs-based assessment.

  • Building and maintaining positive relationships and committing to providing a safe environment.

  • Attending meetings with other key individuals involved in the care of a service user and completing relevant paperwork and reports.

    Level 3 NVQ(H&SC), or working towards, or relevant experience.

  • An eagerness to learn about the role to ensure first-class service delivery.

  • Willing to attend training to deliver relevant skills.

  • A passion to make a change.

  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal, as well as IT proficiency.

  • A Welsh speaker is desirable but not essential.

  • Driving license is essential due to travelling requirements as per the needs of this role.

    Contract/Hours: Fixed Term until 31st March 2025 - (Possible extension subject to future funding), Full Time 37 hours per week, with flexibility of start/end time., A generous annual leave entitlement of 29 days PLUS bank holidays
