Workshop Operative / Relief DriverWorkshop

Whilst PQS has a national presence, our strategically positioned depots are responsible for the day-to-day delivery of the very best in customer service, maintaining stock levels & hire fleet and ensuring operational efficiency.

Reporting to the Branch Manager, the Workshop Operative/Relief Driver is responsible for working with and assisting the workshop technician in maintaining, cleaning and repairing hire fleet and customer equipment. Other aspects of the role include relief driving, loading / unloading vehicles and stock maintenance. This is a new position in our busy Hull depot and would suit someone who enjoys being busy and is happy to help out with a can do attitude.

Duties include:

Workshop:

• Liaise with the workshop technician and depot manager to support where required.


• Systems and checklists are in place to ensure that any stock arriving or leaving the warehouse is logged.


• Equipment is clean, clearly labelled and in the right place.


• Maintain standards of health and safety, hygiene and security.


• Supporting stock takes.


• Carrying out comprehensive safety checks, including the cleaning, repairing, maintenance and calibration of hire and customer-owned equipment, ensuring all necessary documentation is completed both digitally and physically.


• Supporting the workshop technician in ensuring that there is equipment as required, ensuring that sufficient volumes of core hire equipment are always available.


• Managing workloads, and prioritising work effectively and efficiently.


• Third Party Repair administration.


• Attending internal and external training courses as and when required.


• Liaising with national teams and offering support if required.


Driver (relief cover):

Loading equipment into the company van.

• Completing delivery and collections into a time effective manner.


• Ensuring the equipment being delivered or collected is correct and marking any information on the paperwork provided.


• Learning product knowledge to ensure a full understanding of delivery and collection items. (Full training will be provided to you allowing you to complete any relevant checks or related administration.)


• Ensuring that all company vehicles are always driven safely and professionally within the rules of the law, as well as being maintained to a high standard.
