Full Job Description

As a Welcome Assistant you will play a key part in supporting the daily operations of Valence House and Eastbury Manor House- two historic properties and visitor attractions in Barking and Dagenham. Working within the front-of-house team at both sites, you will help to deliver an excellent welcome and customer experience to our visitors and users. In this varied role, you will support the reception, invigilation, and tearoom areas alongside the rest of the team, and providing support across our public events programme. As the first point of contact at both sites, this role is important in making a positive first impression for all visitors. You will be responsible for day-to-day operations, maintaining, a welcome, exciting and attractive presentation of the sites, and keeping visitors safe.

You will be passionate about the history of the local area and its people with strong skills in customer service. You will have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and ability to engage with and share information with a diverse range of customers, including children and young people.

This is a casual position, with no set weekly pattern. Casual welcome assistants are offered shifts on an ad-hoc basis, in line with the needs of the service, to provide additional staffing at commercial and public events, and to cover staff sickness and annual leave.
