We currently have an opportunity for a Crematorium General Assistant to join our dedicated team of funeral professionals at Rotherham Crematorium. As a General Assistant you will play a crucial role in supporting the day to day operations within the crematorium. Here is what a typical day could look like for you:

As a Crematorium General Assistant you will provide essential support and assistance in various aspects of crematorium operations, this will include..

  • To undertake the full range of gardening, cemetery and horticultural tasks

  • Responsible for opening and closing the site gates and book of remembrance room

  • maintain the grounds to the highest standard in accordance with recognised horticultural and grounds maintenance practices

  • Construct, place, fix memorials and subsequently maintain to the highest standard

  • To operate the cremators and ancillary equipment in accordance with manufactures guidelines.

  • Ensure the safe custody of cremated remains left in the care of the crematorium.

  • Ensure the highest standards of house keeping both in and outside the Chapel and ancillary rooms

  • Prepares chapels for each service considering client needs including varying religious requirements.

  • Conduct witness interments and scattering of the cremated remains

  • Ensuring the consistent delivery of the highest levels of client service

    Holds 2+ years experience in a customer service environment.

  • High attention to detail is essential.

  • Proactive approach and willingness to communicate effectively with a range of people, both in-person, over the phone and via email.

  • Ability to successfully multitask and meet multiple deadlines.

  • Computer literate in addition to experience using Microsoft packages (Outlook, Word, and Excel).

  • Presentable at all times, acting with professional conduct and showing empathy.
