Full Job Description

To open the Centre when there is a function and put away any equipment not being used in the hall and to be available to hirer during set up times. To be present on-site whenever there is a function at the centre. You will be informed beforehand if you are required to be present at functions.

To provide a comprehensive range of care taking and handy person services including security, cleaning, monitoring health & safety, arranging rooms and other duties as specified. To ensure that the building is clean and safe to operate. The caretaker will be supplied with a job task sheet and will be expected to fill this in once all jobs have been completed. To have keys to the building to gain access to open and lock up when required.

Responsibilities:
General:

  • Open Centre for all functions and liaise with hirer, show hirer how to use kitchen equipment.

  • Take out and put away all equipment not being used from the main hall.

  • If there is a function on Friday you must work on Saturday to ensure the hall is cleaned and ready for use again, also if the hall is used on Saturday you must work on Sunday to ensure the hall is cleaned and ready for use again. Upstairs area must be cleaned after use on Sunday/Mondays.

  • Identify risk areas.

  • Report on health and safety matters.

  • Support contractors such as electricians, gas suppliers, carpenters, fire officials to access the building and assist in carrying out their duties.

  • Complete a schedule of cleaning and maintenance work.

  • On occasion carry out other duties (including decorating) as required to ensure the safe smooth running of the organization.

  • Support service users, particularly those with mobility difficulties.

  • Ensure that the building is presentable and is ready for functions, i.e. putting out required chair/tables and other equipment.

  • To promote the services that meet the needs of users of the service.

  • Operate within a flexible working arrangement.

  • Specific Duties
    Cleaning & Maintenance

  • Ensure that the building is kept clean and in a presentable manner for the service users, staff and general public.


  • Be responsible for all cleaning and maintenance of the building including toilets, common areas, halls, lounges and offices.


  • Monitor heating and lighting facilities and liaise with the landlords for large maintenance and repair work.


  • Complete small-scale maintenance work


  • Operate the buffing machine to clean and polish the hall and reception areas.

  • Report damage to the line manager and landlord representatives.


  • Ensure that all work is carried out in a safe manner and with regard to the heath and safety of the public and staff.
