Full Job Description

Under the guidance of the team lead(s), you will work in a project team environment with other engineers involved in executing water resources deliverables and other site development engineering in support of the design, modification, and analysis of power plant sites. The work may include the following responsibilities:

  • Flood level determination for 100-year and probable maximum flood scenarios.

  • Site evaluations considering local probable maximum precipitation events.

  • Design and/or analysis of cooling lakes, reservoirs, and canals.

  • Design and/or analysis of cooling water intake and discharge systems.

  • Wave force analysis and shore protection design.

  • Groundwater analysis.

  • Design of storm drains, open channel drainage, and storm water ponds.

  • Design of sanitary sewers and sewage disposal systems.

  • Design of wastewater surface impoundments and landfills.

  • Prepare site layout, grading, and drainage designs.

  • Design of roads and trackwork.


  • This position is based on a hybrid work schedule and will require in-office work 3 days per week.

  • MSCE with an emphasis in Civil Engineering from an ABET Engineering Accreditation Commission-approved program with a strong academic background and coursework.

  • Specialization in hydrologic and hydraulic analyses.

  • 5 or more years of experience in hydrologic and hydraulic design and analysis experience, including flood and drought evaluations for streams and rivers, and design and analysis of cooling towers, canals, channels, lakes, and hydraulic structures.

  • Coastal engineering experience focusing on shoreline protection.

  • Experience in the nuclear industry with conducting analyses and making NRC submittals.

  • Experience in several of the following related civil engineering areas: Site grading and drainage, storm sewer systems and ponds, sanitary systems, road and/or track design, and landfills.

  • Proficiency with one or more of the following design tools: Flo 2D, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, TR-55, TR-20, and others such as MathCad, GIS tools, Microstation, and AutoCad.

  • Ability to work in a team environment.

  • This position requires occasional travel.


  • Valued but not required skills and experience:
  • PE license.
