Full Job Description

We are looking for an instructor (learning facilitator) to join our OUTSTANDING school (OFSTED, May 2022) and help transform the future for our young people. You will be part of our Landbased vocational learning team teaching our young people skills in gardening, grounds maintenance, planting etc. You'll be working in each of our Horticulture areas as well as the wider 52 acre site. You will work alongside our team of Learning Specialists, which include teachers, therapists, and behaviour support leads, as well as liaising closely with our Wellbeing teams.

We are a well-resourced and well-equipped school, set in beautiful grounds in Hermitage, Berkshire. Our vision is for our individual young people to achieve Health, Happiness, Independence, and Work Skills at the relevant levels.

You will work with amazing children and young people with Autism, supportive colleagues, have access to professional development opportunities and have a good work/life balance.

Current vocational instructors are encouraged to apply, and a full induction is offered.

The successful candidate will be energetic, resilient, organised, flexible and able to work as part of a team.

Experience of teaching with children/young adults with Autistic Spectrum Condition in an Education environment or Experience of working within a special/complex needs education environment

Experience of using a range of assessment tools relevant to the needs of individuals with Autistic Spectrum Condition / complex needs

Effective working within Multi-Disciplinary Teams

Prior's Court was set up by Founding Patron Dame Stephanie Shirley, whose vision of a centre of excellence for children with autism became reality with the opening of Prior's Court School in 1999. We have since grown to support around 90 young people with complex autism aged between 5-25 years.

Since opening, our support team has grown from around 20 to 500 and we have built a reputation as a cutting edge educational, vocational, and residential facility for young people with autism, All positions at the school are subject to a satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check, references and receipt of the appropriate Right to Work documents.
