Full Job Description

Sensing Change is a team within Adult Social Care, Suffolk County Council. We provide a range of services to people with sight and/or hearing loss throughout Suffolk, which include Vision Rehabilitation, Social Work & Assessment and a Sensory Support Service.
Sensing Change is a well-established, dedicated and supportive team with lots of experience, enthusiasm and passion for promoting the needs of people with sight and/or hearing loss. We will nurture and develop your existing skills providing additional training when needed in this interesting and specialist area of work.

Your role and responsibilities
You will
- be responsible for assessing, planning and delivering high level independence skills, including orientation and mobility training to people with sight loss or dual sensory loss
- offer information, advice, guidance and support to enable people with sight loss to live as independently as possible
- balance needs and risk of individuals and you will do this while focussing on promoting independence and positive outcomes
- support individuals, carers and their families and work alongside colleagues within Sensing Change and Adult Social Care, as well as partner organisations when required.

You will need
- Must have Degree/BTEC Diploma in Rehabilitation Studies Level 5

The team
Sensing Change is a team of 25 staff, all of whom have a wealth of knowledge and experience and there is always someone available to provide support and share skills. Our main bases are in Ipswich and Lowestoft, but we cover the whole of Suffolk, so this would be flexible.
We work in a hybrid way, mixing office, community and home working to suit our workload. Our aim is to focus on early intervention and prevention, enabling individuals to maintain and increase their independence, as well as providing longer support where needed.
We have 5 Qualified Vision Rehabilitation Workers and 3 Vision Independence Practitioners. We are excited to welcome someone to join this dedicated team and work alongside us to empower our customers.

£32,076 - £38,223 per annum (pro rata if part time)
- 37 hours per week - Flexible working options available
