Are you passionate about event management and customer service? The Chester House Estate is seeking a dedicated and sales driven Venue Officer to join our dynamic team.

As a pivotal administrative and operational figure, you will coordinate third-party bookings for businesses, weddings, parties, conferences, and other functions. Your role will involve ensuring that all event spaces are impeccably prepared and maintaining high standards throughout a clients booking. Additionally, you will handle visitor inquiries, sales and business correspondence, providing exceptional customer service and ensuring all communications are professional and timely.,

  • Event Coordination: Manage and coordinate all event bookings, ensuring spaces are prepared to the highest standards.

  • Customer Service: Address visitor inquiries and business correspondence, ensuring timely and professional communication.

  • Sales and Marketing: Focus on selling event spaces for weddings, parties, and conferences, including developing new packages and expanding the estate's clientele.


  • In this role, you will collaborate closely with our Marketing Officer to keep promotional materials current and aligned with the estate's offerings. Your tasks will also include gathering and utilising feedback from visitors and team members to enhance future corporate events and engagement activities. We are looking for someone with significant experience in the weddings and events sector. Proficiency in using email and online ticketing systems is essential, along with strong organisational, sales, financial management, planning, and time-management skills.,
  • Flexible Work Schedule: Operates on a 5/7-day roster, including regular weekends, evenings, and bank holidays.

  • Health and Safety: Committed to upholding health and safety regulations to ensure a safe and enjoyable visitor experience., As the Venue Officer, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • 1. Event Coordination:

  • Oversee the setup and breakdown of event spaces, ensuring all areas are prepared to the highest standards.

  • Coordinate logistics with vendors, caterers, clients and staff to ensure seamless event execution.

  • Manage event timelines and schedules, ensuring all aspects of the event run smoothly and efficiently.


  • 1. Customer Service:

  • Serve as the main point of contact for clients, addressing their needs and resolving any issues that arise.

  • Handle visitor inquiries with professionalism and provide detailed information about the estate's offerings.

  • Manage business correspondence, ensuring all communications are timely and professional.


  • 1. Sales and Marketing:

  • Promote event spaces to potential clients, highlighting the unique features and benefits of hosting events at Chester House Estate.

  • Develop and implement new event packages to attract a diverse range of clients.

  • Work closely with the Marketing Officer to keep promotional materials current and aligned with the estate's offerings.


  • 1. Feedback and Improvement:

  • Gather feedback from clients and visitors to identify areas for improvement.

  • Collaborate with team members to enhance future events and engagement activities.

  • Utilise feedback to make informed decisions that improve the overall client and visitor experience.


  • 1. Administrative Duties:

  • Maintain accurate records of bookings, contracts, and correspondence.

  • Utilize EPOS tills and online ticketing systems to manage transactions and bookings.

  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, creating a safe environment for all visitors and staff.


  • 1. Collaboration and Teamwork:

  • Work closely with other team members to ensure all events are well-coordinated and executed.

  • Participate in regular team meetings to discuss upcoming events and share feedback.

  • Support other departments as needed to ensure the overall success of the estate's operations.

    Background in business studies, marketing, communications, or a related discipline.

  • Significant experience in the weddings and events sector.

  • Proficiency in using EPOS tills and online ticketing systems.

  • Strong organisational, planning, and time-management skills.

  • Passion for creating memorable events.

  • Experience in generating income and managing expenditure.

To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate the following,
  • A Level qualification (or equivalent experience) in Business Studies, Marketing, Communications, Events, or a related discipline.

  • First aid training (desirable).

  • Level 2 food hygiene certificate (desirable)., Significant and proven experience in retail, business, and/or visitor services, particularly within the charity sector.

  • Proficiency in using EPOS tills and design applications such as Canva for artwork and online ticketing systems.

  • Experience working with volunteers or community groups (desirable).

  • Appreciation and understanding of the importance of the historic environment (desirable).


  • Abilities and Skills:
  • Excellent customer service skills and the ability to maintain high service standards.

  • Strong planning and organisational skills.

  • Effective time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks methodically.

  • Proficient administrative skills, with IT competencies in applications like Excel, Word, and Canva.
