Full Job Description

The opportunity has arisen for an academy physiotherapist to join our expanding sports medical team. The role focuses on providing and developing medical provisions across The University of Exeter high performance programme, with clear integration into the day-to-day workings of the Exeter Chiefs academy medical team. The applicant will have continuous support from the medical team but will require autonomous working capacity within the EURFC schedule and at fixtures. The hard working and professional physiotherapist will have the chance to thrive, develop, progress, and integrate into an already experienced Premiership medical team under the guidance of the Director of Sports Medicine and the Head of Medical Services. The role will primarily focus on the assessment, treatment, & rehabilitation planning/implementation for the University HPP (high performance programme) and academy squads., · Provide acute injury assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation to all HPP University and Exeter Chiefs academy players, under the direction of the academy team doctor and lead academy physiotherapist. This role should have a focus towards Exeter Chiefs contracted players and fringe players identified with the potential to be contracted.
· Provide weekly triage services to EURFC players outside of the HPP programme, providing acute injury advice and direction.
· Implement effective communication skills throughout our medical team and coaching staff.
· Provide pitch side cover for all required training and games across Sandy Park & University of Exeter sites.
· Assist with daily and weekly musculoskeletal screening of all players as required.
· Self-manage day-day caseload across Sandy Park & University of Exeter sites, demonstrating autonomy in how to prioritise own time and resources in line with the job description herein - predominantly working out of the University sports campus facilities, with a minimum commitment of x1 day/wk attendance in Sandy Park for professional catch-ups, caseload reviews, CPD and integration into the senior squad programme.
· Keep documentation on all aspects of injury management in accordance to the standards set by the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC).
· Assist the medical team with administrative obligations such as injury audits, medical insurance and other matters as required.
· Adhere to obligations set out in BUCS Super Rugby and National League minimum standards, assuming the role of 'Clinical Governance Lead' for these matters.
· Keep abreast of current best practices, maintain CPD and take an active role in the departments CPD programme.
· Carry out any other duties that may be required by club, Director of Sports Medicine and the Head of Medical Services.

· Degree in physiotherapy.
· Member of the CSP or equivalent insurance provider.
· Registration with HCPC.
