Full Job Description

  • Work collaboratively with other designers to implement and adhere to our Design System guidelines.

  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of UI components, patterns, and style guides within the Design System.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure consistent application of the Design System across various projects.

  • Contribute to the evolution and improvement of the Design System based on user feedback and industry best practices.

  • Create wireframes, user flows, and prototypes that align with the established Design System.

  • Participate in design critiques and provide constructive feedback to foster continuous improvement.

  • Not only will you be a key player in the Design System, but you also could manage and deliver design projects from end-to-end.

    Working closely with our UX/UI team, Product Managers, as well as multiple engineering squads, and other business stakeholders, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks. To be successful in this role, you should have experience in Design Systems and Adobe XD., Strong portfolio showcasing design projects, with a focus that ideally demonstrates utilisation of a design system.

  • Basic understanding of UX/UI principles and proficiency in Figma.

  • Eagerness to learn and ability to apply Design System principles to new and existing projects.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

  • A passion for staying informed about industry trends and emerging technologies.

  • Experience in an environment where analysis, critical thinking, usability tests, and information architecture are commonplace. You will be expected to organise autonomously complex information and translate it into wireframes.

    How our teams are structured:

    We have three Tech Hubs at Sidetrade, one in Birmingham (UK), one in Paris (France) and one in Calgary (Canada). We work in small, autonomous teams mixed with highly skilled engineers, usually up to a maximum of 7. Each team (or Squad) has a Product Manager, Technical Lead, a mix of engineers and dedicated QA.

    Each Squad has the autonomy to decide how they work best, within a basic Agile framework and work on strategic, customer-focused projects that deliver huge value.

    Guilds

    As well as our day-to-day teams who focus on product delivery, we also have what we call Guilds. These Guilds or groups of like-minded engineers, focus on specific technologies to focus/harness passion on deep technical expertise as well as following latest market trends. Anybody can join a guild - so either it's your passion or you just want to learn something new.

    We currently have 6 Guilds in our R&D department:
  • UI/UX - Focuses on how to build the best front-end framework using React to present the best customer experience (check our medium blog which received more than 300 claps here)

  • API's & Gateway - Focuses on how evolve to Microservice architecture using .NET Core

  • Data Engineering - Focuses on how to build the best backend data pipelines to manage/move our data using Python, SQL & our event driven architecture over RabbitMQ.

  • Data Science - Focuses on how we can improve our AI assistant (Aimie) and maximise the huge amount of data that we sit on

  • SRE - Focuses on how we best deploy/manage all the infrastructure every single day using tools like Ansible & Azure DevOps

  • Test - Focuses on quality, how we improve quality & how we maintain quality using automated testing tools like Cypress
