Full Job Description

  • To ensure that the organisation's funds are used in accordance with the Memorandum and Articles of Association, Management Committee decisions and funders' conditions.

  • To ensure that appropriate financial systems and controls are in place. Liaise with designated staff about financial matters.

  • To keep the Management Committee informed of all financial matters.

  • To maintain a record of all assets and liabilities. To liaise with the bank in relation to the financial affairs of the organisation and be prepared to be a signatory on CAF and Barclays bank accounts.

  • To prepare Management Accounts, budgets, forecasts and cash flows as required. To prepare Annual Budgets for the Management Committees.

  • To advise on the Charity's reserves and update the existing policy.

  • To be responsible, once the budget is set to maintain the overall costs within that overall budget providing the income stream is maintained. Where the income stream is reduced or increased to be responsible to the Management Committee for the production of a revised Budget or Forecast.

  • To ensure bookkeeping software is up to date and reconciled.

  • Ensure that the accounts are reviewed and agreed by the Trustees/Directors before being submitted to the Auditors and presented at the Annual General Meeting.

  • Present accounts at the AGM.

  • To be responsible for Charity Commission and Companies House returns.

  • Ensure that the legal requirements are fulfilled under the legislation for Charities, Companies, Taxation and Money laundering.

  • To exercise the authority to alter these procedures for a temporary period, in emergency situations.


  • Commitment

  • The Treasurer will be expected to attend a Trustees' meeting for approx. two hours every two months, plus additional business and subcommittee meetings as required.

  • The Treasurer will need to spend some additional time overseeing the accounts, preparing reports for the Board of Trustees and preparing end of year data for the accountants.

  • The Treasurer will be required to communicate with our auditors when necessary.

  • The Treasurer must demonstrate a willingness to be available to the Trustees and staff for advice and enquiries on an ad hoc basis.

    The Trustees would welcome applications from persons with an accountancy background preferably but not essential with experience of Charity and Company Law and to include:


  • I.T. Skills Experience of financial management.

  • Well-developed analysis skills.

  • Ability to communicate clearly.

  • Good interpersonal skills.

    Elleray Hall provides a service for adults, with emphasis on the elderly and is based in the centre of Teddington. The Centre aims to enhance the lives of its members by providing a safe welcoming environment where people can socialise and participate in the activities on offer.
