Full Job Description

This role is to support the branch and wider company fleet and drivers in-line with transport laws and regulations and to maximise profits via intelligent utilisation.

The role is critical to the performance of the overall branch success and therefore needs constant focus.

Branch Postcode - N7 9BN.

Transport Compliance

Load checks of all vehicles leaving the yard

Drivers hours management- tachograph downloads, infringement debriefs

Ensuring staff are supported and adequately trained to do their job.

Working closely and forging relationships with group transports to ensure accident and mis- use reduction

Best in class approach to H&S & drivers held accountable for mis-use and infringement

Support supplier performance regards H&S practice

Ensure all drivers have the adequate equipment to do their job at all times

Ensure all vehicles maintenance, inspection schedules and MOTs are met

Any necessary daily reports completed

Transport Efficiency

Best in class productivity

Utilising our assets to be as efficient as we can be, reducing mileage, improved number of drops etc

Full utilisation of network

Supporting other branches to deliver to cater for customer demand

Managing Online orders (bringing orders forward and arrange collections, transferring orders)

Supporting with Route Planning

  • Previous Experience working in Transport a Builders Merchant's (ESSENTIAL)

  • Excellent Communication Skills

  • The ability to prioritise whilst working under pressure

  • Exceptional time management skills

  • Role- modelling behaviour- working with integrity, honesty and in a confidential manner

  • Basic knowledge & understanding of Transport Legislation and procedures

  • Previous experience within a Transport Department

  • A Full UK Driving License

  • A valid HGV Class 2 License (desirable, not essential)

  • Good understanding of vehicles and Hiab's

  • Strong administrative and IT skills

  • Strong numerical skills with the ability to calculate weights and measures

  • Demonstrate a positive, friendly and stable attitude

  • Is prepared to develop a knowledge of the company, its products and the elements required to be successfully employed in the business

  • Someone who will promote and adhere to the company's cultures, values and professionalism

  • Good interpersonal skills, confident and organised

    Salary £28,000 - £32,000, dependant on experience
