Full Job Description

The Cancer Services Department is looking for a Band 4 trainee Cancer MDT and Data Coordinators for a permanent position.

The post holder will work within the Cancer MDT and Data Coordinators team and work towards developing the competencies to undertake the Band 5 post that is described in this Job Description and in the Band 5 Person Specification attached as Appendix 1.

The post holder will be expected to undertake any necessary training that may be identified through the Trusts objective setting, review and appraisal system, in order to develop the competencies within 10 Months. A formal interview will take place to confirm promotion to a Band 5 post after 10 Months

This post is for Monday-Friday between 08:00am and 17:00pm on a rota basis. Flexible working cannot be considered for this role.

  • To be responsible for the timetabling of meetings in conjunction with the lead clinician for the MDT, ensuring that an appropriate venue is booked. To distribute meeting schedule to all core and extended members of the team. Keeping a comprehensive diary of all MDT meetings that are booked in advance.

  • Ensure that all new cancer patients are discussed at MDT, by preparing the list of patients for discussion at each meeting. Collecting referral proformas, faxes or names from the secretaries and MDT members. To distribute the list to core team members in advance of each meeting.

  • To ensure all necessary documentation for the patients to be discussed are located in advance of the meeting. This includes: Travelling between sites and accessing the various medical information systems to

  • locate case notes and investigation reports. Obtaining case notes from wards, medical records, clinicians' offices and from other Trusts.
  • Collecting reports of required investigations and films from the various hospital departments. (X-ray, pathology).

  • To attend MDT meetings and ensure required records are kept (attendance records, MDT proformas etc are filled in by the clinicians) and copies added to the patient notes. Ensuring that any agreed action points are noted during the MDT for follow up action.

  • To ensure that case notes and all other documents are returned to their proper location after the meeting.
