Trading Underwriter

As a Trading underwriter you will be responsible for servicing brokers, underwriting new business, renewals, and MTAs. This role is for someone who comes from a broking or underwriting background and is passionate about developing in their career.

You will be aligned to a portfolio of brokers / customers to proactively develop and profitably grow their commercial book of business.

Partnering with brokers and customers to truly understand their wants and needs, using data insight to ensure we provide whole customer solutions which support these.

This role does require you to go out on broker visits across the Midlands or the South West, so there is a need to be flexible with travel.

A bit about the job :

To be a multiclass underwriter who operates within agreed guidelines and authority levels to profitably grow the book of business

To be a great communicator who regularly has meaningful face to face meetings with brokers and / or customers to build their confidence in us and to make Aviva their insurer of choice

To deal end to end with brokers / customers book of business

To embrace and understand our SME strategy

To be curious to grow understanding of the commercial business

Previous property & liability underwriting experience is essential

The ability to analyse risks and communicate and present effectively to brokers and / or customers

Work collaboratively within a large complex organisation

Good knowledge of the FCA and other relevant regulation and legislation

Strong commercial business acumen to create and deliver business cases
