Full Job Description

Reporting to the Head of Technical Support to lead on Sugar Beet Agronomy within British Sugar's Agriculture department working closely with the Commercial team to support Agriculture Managers achieve yield plans with growers and ensuring sugar beet fits within our their business model. Providing generic advice to Industry Partners by working in collaboration with the British Beet Research Organisation and wider stakeholders across the industry. This is a crucial role within our business in promoting sugar beet as a crop of choice.,

  • Working in conjunction with Agriculture Managers to assist in giving both general and specific advice to our grower base on agronomic matters, identify and develop opportunities to deliver against yield objectives and create long term sustainable beet supply.

  • Analysing agronomic data to identify opportunities where growers and Agronomists can assist in raising UK sugar beet yields.

  • Leading the beet yield tracker software adoption for a specific geographic area.

  • Delivering timely advice through social media, email, and text messages.

  • Generating account plans for industry partners and develop strong commercial relationships.

  • Run technical updates sessions for Account Managers, Growers, and Industry Partners.

  • Managing and delivering harvester and drill testing services to UK beet growers/contractors.

  • Working closely with the BBRO to ensure crop advice is current and aligned.

  • Managing the yellow water pan network, Cercospora Warning system and National Crop Survey for a known geographic area.

  • Support British Sugar self-grow and delivering Agronomy training across the Agriculture department.

    Advanced agronomic knowledge

  • BASIS/FACTS qualified (not essential as training can be provided)

  • Significant experience of working in an Agriculturally based industry

  • Knowledge of the wider Agricultural industry

  • Commercial experience in Agricultural markets

  • Strong relationship skills and ability to adapt style

  • Good negotiating and selling skills

  • Competent in the use of IT including MS office and business applications

  • Excellent planning, organisation and time management

  • Current driving licence

    Range £60,599.00 to £74,189.00
