Full Job Description

Due to continuing growth and focus in this area, we are looking for a new Technical Director for Social Impact Advisory to join and provide leadership in our senior team.
The role will focus on taking ownership of and growing a holistic and client-focussed 'Social Impact Advisory' capability within the business, which will include service offerings such as equality, diversity and inclusion, accessibility, consultation and engagement, social value and the bespoke development of solutions to support clients' strategic objectives.
The successful candidate will shape the strategic direction of our emerging Social Impact Advisory service, providing leadership to the team, and fostering innovation. This will include identifying opportunities to add value to Mott MacDonald's existing Social service offering by: shaping client vision and strategy, augmenting business case and consenting submissions, mapping benefits and devising monitoring metrics, ensuring strategic alignment of supply chain and procurement practices, and enhancing the narrative for community engagement.
The Technical Director for Social Impact Advisory will develop and maintain strong relationships with clients and internal stakeholders (including senior leaders and account managers), identifying and undertaking early strategic client conversations. They will bring, create and maintain a robust pipeline of opportunities, including 'organic' work-winning from existing core service assignments, as well as generating new opportunities to expand the service offering through direct client engagement. They will work with clients and project teams to ensure strategic alignment of social impact solutions with projects and programmes and corporate level initiatives.
The Technical Director for Social Impact Advisory will also support our Global Practice Leads for Social Outcomes and Environment and Society, among others.     You will have both a personal and professional passion for social development, social value and the role of infrastructure in society. You will have a proven track record in business development, technical leadership, and project delivery in a commercial / consultancy environment, and in a variety of sectors for a range of public and private sector clients.

  • You will be able to demonstrate the following qualifications, skills, competencies and experience:
  • Degree qualified (2:1 or above) in social science, humanities, planning, or related discipline OR equivalent relevant professional experience in the field. Masters or other higher qualification desirable.

  • Social consultancy services, social value, social impact, social development and social performance

  • Knowledge and experience of the infrastructure and construction sectors

  • Project leadership and assurance

  • Shaping the strategic direction and driving development of technical device offerings with a social focus

  • Overseeing and writing winning bids for new work

  • Overseeing and undertaking impact assessments, evaluations and appraisals
