Full Job Description

The Connections BAU team are responsible for enabling and facilitating the connections process by ensuring customer applications and relevant data are fed into the appropriate systems and the front end of the connections process to application clock start runs as smoothly and efficiently as possible.

As a Technical Assistant you will ensure the effective execution of team processes in line with the Connection and Use of System Code (CUSC) and the System Operator - Transmission Owner Code (STC), ensuring outputs are of a high standard. You will work as part of team of analysts to ensure the back-office processes that underpin the Connections process are carried out. You will also deal directly with ESO customers and help them to navigate their way through the connection application process. Additionally, you will work closely with the Connections BAU Team Leader to ensure the team is supported in their daily tasks. You will act as a lead for the team on any escalations or issues and will provide expertise and guidance to support the team to deliver their priorities.

You will become an expert in the use of various systems associated to the Connections process e.g. Salesforce (CRM System), SAP 4 HANA.

You'll need to be resilient and able to handle the pressures that come within an industry driving forward to enable net zero by 2050. You'll be based in Warwick and can enjoy our hybrid working from office and home. We are open to full time and part time applicants, as well as flexible working arrangements., Manage multiple customer applications and take them through the front end of the connections process to "Clock Start".
- Understand the connections process well enough to guide both new and existing customers through the detail of the process.
- Ensure the connections process is followed and high-quality outputs are produced right first time and on time, including processing of customer applications, Scheme Briefing Notes, customer invoices etc.
- Keep Connections Contract Managers up to date regarding customer applications and any relevant developments.
- Liaise with the relevant Transmission Owner companies in order to take customer applications through the competency process and address any issues that arise.
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives to increase the efficiency of team processes.

- Strong time management workload prioritisation skills
- Experience of working to and delivering against tight deadlines.
- Understanding of basic finance and accounting software e.g. SAP would be an advantage
- Excellent customer and stakeholder skills.,

  • Proven experience of using CRM systems (such as MS Dynamics, Salesforce or other similar platforms).

  • Being able to work with basic datasets in MS Excel.

  • Demonstrated ability to be able to build effective relationships quickly both internally and externally.

  • Excellent communication skills.

Previously denoted as the Future System Operator (or FSO), the new National Energy System Operator will be the independent body responsible for planning Great Britain's electricity and gas networks and operating the electricity system.


  • The ESO, including all of its existing roles, will be at the heart of the new National Energy System Operator. As NESO, we will build on our existing roles, capabilities, and ways of working significantly to create an organisation the energy system and its users' need. Our new capabilities will enable us to look across vectors, including electricity, natural gas and hydrogen, and crucially consider the trade-offs between them.

    The organisation will be set up as a public corporation with its own Board of independent directors, with complete operational independence from government, the regulator and any and all commercial interest. As the ESO are today, NESO will be licenced and regulated by Ofgem through price control agreements and obligated to identify optimal solutions to system operations and planning in the most sustainable, affordable and secure way for all.

    A competitive salary between £37000-£41000 - dependent on experience and capability.
