Full Job Description

To work in a residential children's home with children and young people who are looked after. The post holder will be expected to manage shifts and undertake the supervision of care staff.

The post holder will be expected to offer the care, support and guidance the young person requires from a home and ultimately, to prepare them with the skills and knowledge they require on an individual basis, to progress into independent living.

To create an environment within the home which promotes positive respect for children and to work as part of a team who are responsible for meeting the needs identified in their placement plan.

The post holder will undertake specific responsibilities that maintain and improve the service and functioning of the home. These duties will be carried out within the relevant legislation and regulatory requirements. Maintain monitoring and administrative systems and participate in departmental monitoring and evaluation processes.

The post holder will encourage and enable children to achieve their maximum potential whilst allowing them to assume responsibility for their actions commensurate with their age, ability and aptitude.

The post holder will be required to ensure levels of cleanliness within the home are kept to the highest standard.

Be capable of asserting oneself and supporting colleagues when dealing with difficult situations, to ensure any challenging behaviour is dealt with effectively.

Attend any meetings regarding the young person, to give feedback on their progress and to support the young person, whenever the young person requests staff to do so.
