Full Job Description

We are an innovative, child-centred infant school based in central Harrogate, North Yorkshire. We specialise in providing a holistic, experience-led education to our wonderful young learners whilst maintaining high levels of happiness and morale within the staff and across the broader community. We have 3 classes per year group, with 90 pupils in each year. Classes are capped at 30.

Specific vacancy requirements:

  • Both posts are based working 1:1 with two specific children. One is in Reception at present, and the other is currently in Year 1.

  • Candidates will need to be flexible and adaptable, and will need to be able to work as part of a team and show initiative whilst working independently.

    Oatlands Infant School are looking for two bright, enthusiastic individuals who care deeply about working with infant-aged children.


  • To work in class and across specialised provision (e.g. sensory spaces) with two young learners, one of whom is autistic and the other has downs syndrome. Both are fabulous children with lovely families, and both have a right to an amazing educational experience.

    Successful applicants will need to be positive, thorough individuals who communicate well with children and adults. Specialised training will be provided via the Apprenticeship scheme, and within the school.,
  • We are looking for candidates who are genuinely interested in early child development.

  • We also want to find individuals who are looking to build long-term careers in education, and are just taking their first steps on this adventure.

  • A good grasp of English and Maths is essential

  • All candidates must be able to work as part of a team whilst maintaining the highest professional standards at all times.

  • Experience of working/volunteering in schools or with children is preferable, but not expected, as is experience of supporting / working with vulnerable children who have additional needs and / or disabilities.

  • Wage: £6 an hour

  • Working week: Monday - Friday 8am - 3:30pm (Term time only)

  • Total hours per week: 30 hours a week

  • Expected duration: 18 months
