The Priory Learning Trust (Somerset Business Award winner for Employer of the Year) is looking to recruit a teacher of Religious Studies and Humanities to work at Worle Community School - An Academy site in Weston-super-Mare, a five minute drive from the M5 junction, 2.9 miles from the beach, with strong public transport links.

Are you looking for a challenging and rewarding career? At Worle Community School we are on an improvement journey - we are looking for staff to join our team and help us work towards our goals. If you are committed to improving outcomes for young people, being a part of a dedicated team and having a fulfilling career - we could be the right fit for you.

The Humanities department at WCSA is a really strong team of teachers who work collaboratively to deliver excellent History, Geography, Religious Studies and Sociology lessons to our students. The team is made up of teachers with a wide range of experiences and each subject benefits from being led by excellent subject leads who proactively are driving the curriculum forward.

The team support each other and work together to build a well-implemented curriculum, and this year are particularly working in embedding high quality adaptive teaching to support high standards from all students; embedding reading into the curriculum; and increasing opportunities for mode B learning alongside well established direct instruction and well-modelled learning. Whilst we would prefer an RS specialist we welcome applications from candidates from all humanities related disciplines.

At Worle Community School, we work hard to make our students, staff and communities PROUD of Worle. We aim to be, WCSA is a community school at heart - we focus on developing children and young people into well rounded individuals, who leave school not only with good grades, but also valuable life experiences and an aspirational mindset, with high expectations of, and for, themselves.

At WCSA, we also look after our colleagues. We offer high quality development opportunities and a supportive, dynamic and diverse workplace, highly supported by a hands-on team in all areas, from support, to teaching, to senior leadership.

We invest in staff to develop them as classroom practitioners. Staff benefit from:

  • A coaching programme to develop their practice within the classroom, working together to find solutions to improve learning and progress for all students.

  • An excellent CPD programme based around WalkThrus materials that really allows staff to make use of research informed pedagogy to embed effective teaching strategies in the classroom.

For teachers at WCSA, we support staff with centralised systems where appropriate, a two week October half term break, and a sensible marking policy.
