Full Job Description

Archway school is seeking to appoint an inspirational individual that can teach across the Humanities subject areas. The successful candidate will work alongside the experienced teachers and Heads of Department. This is a full-time role that would suit an individual with a passion for Geography, History, PSHE and Religious Studies and who has a determination to drive improvements in teaching and learning and an expectation that all students will reach their potential. The potential to teach Geography, History or Religious Studies at A level is desirable but not essential.

This is an exciting time to join our school, we have experienced a tremendous rise in numbers into our Year 7 and are expecting numbers to continue to grow. You would be joining a forward thinking and fully supportive team of staff who are passionate about improving the opportunities for all students. Archway was visited by a team of Ofsted inspectors in March 2022 and the school was graded "Good" in all five categories, with an overall effectiveness grade of "Good". The inspectors recognised the significant progress that had been made in a number of areas since the previous inspection in 2018. The school prides itself on its inclusive attitude and green credentials.

The ideal candidate should demonstrate a proven ability to deliver high-quality and effective teaching, engaging and motivating young people throughout their education. They should have a genuine passion for supporting pupils in their learning and development and a strong commitment to making a positive impact on their lives.

The successful candidate will:

  • Aspire to deliver an outstanding education to all our young people.

  • Aspire to be an outstanding teacher and proactively engage with CPD (the school has a generous CPD budget and is keen to fund staff who wish to improve their skillset).

  • Be able to bring teaching to life in an innovative and meaningful way.

  • Think creatively about how to implement schemes of learning and share their pedagogical ideas with colleagues.
