Training and Induction is part of the Recruitment process

Avensis Support works with unaccompanied Asylum-seeking children. Avensis support currently have 9 homes, 4-8 beds per home, across the Greater Manchester area. Our service users are Looked After children aged from 16-17 years old.

The post holder will be able to contribute to the core purpose in improving the independent skills and education, employment and training prospects of the service users so that they can achieve the best possible outcomes in life.

Support the Named Key Workers/Team Leaders and completed task in timely manner, if need by support with filling forms, opening bank account, registration with Refugee council/ Red Cross etc, applying for bus pass, college bursary forms etc,
Going through checklist provided for YP and supporting Young People accordingly.
Promote the development of service user's independence and life skills by providing physical and emotional support
Support service users to access services such as health, education, training or legal
Ensure that the homes are in good order, encouraging the service users to clean bedrooms and communal areas and inform the manager of any repairs and maintenance needed.
Maintaining good level of presentation and cleanliness in home

  • Carry out regular health and safety checks of the homes.

  • Support service users to attend college/any appointments
    Assisting in the day-to-day management of petty cash systems in accordance with established policies and procedures.
    Assist service users with budgeting
    Provide ad hoc support as required by the service users (e.g. help with homework, English practice, listening to a service user who needs support)
    Liaison with Key Workers
    Writing reports/email briefs as required (e.g. after a Social Worker visit or medical appointment or regarding a safeguarding concern
    Carry out regular welfare checks on service users and encourage them to participate in activities
    Carry out regular risk assessments as required
    Ensure all incidents during shift are logged, including using any on-line systems as appropriate and a full handover is carried out at the end of a shift
    Work closely with Local Authorities, Social Workers and other professionals
