Full Job Description

Combat Stress is the leading provider of mental health services to Military Veterans who have served in the British Armed Forces and experience mental ill health arising from military service. The Substance Misuse Recovery Worker's role will sit within the Integrated Veterans Mental Health Service. Line Management is provided by the Band 6 Substance Misuse Nurse. Under the guidance of the Substance Misuse Nurses, the Substance Misuse Recovery Worker's role is to actively engage and support veterans living in the North West of England who misuse drugs and alcohol. The goal is to reduce the harm caused by drug and alcohol use by providing support to stabilise, reduce or stop their substance misuse and improve their health and wellbeing. Combat Stress is a Values based organisation and therefore the post holder will be required to promote these values throughout their role, as well as upholding the culture of engagement with service users and the implementation of a recovery-based approach
when working with service users, families, and carers.

This is a new and exciting position for a Substance Misuse Recovery Worker to join Combat Stress and work alongside the NHS as part of Op Courage in the South and West Yorkshire region of North England. For a Substance Misuse Recovery Worker, an appointment working with our Armed Forces veterans would be extremely rewarding. Our veterans have served in every campaign since the First World War and for over a hundred years our team has been there to support them with their mental health needs., Combat Stress is the UK's leading mental health charity for veterans. For over a century we've been helping former servicemen and women deal with issues like post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety and depression. Today we provide specialist treatment and support for veterans from every service and conflict, focusing on those with complex mental health issues related to their military service. We provide a range of community, outpatient and residential mental health services to veterans with complex mental health problems. We provide services in-person, and via phone and online.
