studio intern

The studio intern will work in the AK Studio where the patterns and samples for the forthcoming AK Collection are developed. The successful candidate will assist with practical work, such as pattern making, cutting fabrics, sewing by hand and machine.
The goal of the internship is to gain the experience of working in a high end fashion house and monitoring a design process from initial concept to final product, with focus on pattern making, sampling and Studio organisation., Sampling:
+ Assisting pattern cutters with the development of sampling and production pattern as well as Showpieces for AK; this includes assistance with: flat pattern cutting, copying pattern, preparing pattern print-out for cutting,
+ Cutting calico for toiling, Fusing trials for fabrics
+ Assisting sample cutter with cutting high quality fabrics, including thread or chalk mark
+ Prepare finishing samples for style developments, using industrial sewing machines
+ Assist with preparing fabric consumptions
+ Organising and archiving seasonal fabrics and trims stock
+ Organizing fitting photos, taking detail pictures of samples
+ Taking detail photos of sample/protos before factory shipments and safe them on server
Studio:
+ Carrying out day to day studio tasks and organisation, supporting the Studio Coordinator
+ Assisting studio coordination to keep track of studio stock ( e.g. threads, zips, buttons, paper, calico)
+ Researching trims in Local shops
+ Organizing shipments: packing boxes, contacting shipping department
+ Assisting pattern cutter with pattern organization or archiving of seasonal pattern
Other Responsibilities:
+ Assist with organising special productions/ exhibitions / special events/
+ Assist during shoots and fashion shows
+ Preparing client meetings/MTOs (e.g. fabric cards)
