Full Job Description

  • Ensuring the effective preparation of sterile consumables (dressings, linen, instruments, and equipment) by the process of decontamination, inspection assembly and packing within predefined quality standards.

  • Rigorously checking, washing, laying up and packing sets of theatre instruments to meet contract specifications within predefined quality standards.

  • Safely operating and monitoring machines and equipment (washer/disinfectors, ultrasonic and sterilisers) effectively.

  • Ensuring that repairs and missing instruments or equipment are recorded and logged on the Tracking and Traceability computer system (SynergyTrak).

  • Ensuring that repaired instruments or equipment are returned to stock or the appropriate coded sets or the Trust's appointed person.

    12 weeks of training on Mondya-Friday at 8:00-16:00, then move into full-time role (37.5 hrs per week) on Monday-Friday at 10:00-18:00. Candidate needs to be available on weekends and Bank Holidays., An annual salary of £22,383.00 plus a 5% performance bonus, and generous shift allowances if you work overtime/unsociable hours! Plus a higher cost of living allowance if you work in London.

  • Access to a Level 2 Healthcare Science Assistant Apprenticeship! This is a 12-15 month fully funded programme studying good scientific practice for the Healthcare profession! It is universally applicable outside of STERIS! Completed on the job, you are given 20% of your working hours to study towards the qualification. Further apprenticeships are available throughout the course of your career!
