The Acute Medical Unit is looking for highly motivated Registered Nurses to join our team. Our Unit has received the prestigious award as a Silver SPEC area, where our commitment to deliver Safe, Personal and Effective Care continuously has been recognised. We have pledged to maintain these high standards of care at all times by working in partnership with patients and all members of the multi-disciplinary team.

We are a dynamic, well led Acute Medical Unit caring for acutely unwell medical patients. We have 73 beds, 10 of these beds are Higher Observations beds.

These beds are used for patients that are transferred from the Emergency Department earlier in their pathway - in the acute phase of admission, they will require higher skilled care and treatment, therefore applicants are required to have skills in Emergency or Acute Medicine / Critical Care.The beds are supported by a designated team highly trained professionals including our Clinical Lead nurses. Level 1 training and opportunity to undertake Advanced Life Support will be available to support development., Our patients will be assessed, triaged and treated to identify whether to stay on the assessment unit , be discharged or require a longer stay Specialist bed . Our length of stay will be up to 72 hours.

Our area will provide excellent experience for newly qualified nurses , we offer a substantial in house training programme, along side the Perceptorship programme provided by the Trust and 6 weeks Supernumerary experience. You will work with your own allocated HCA in a bay of no more than 6 patients . We have multiple senior nurses on each shift to work alongside and support and the medical team are available 24/7 to assist with unwell patients.

For more Senior band 5's there is the opportunity to consolidate knowledge and care for level 1 patients with support and training, and develop in preparation for a band 6 role.

We require enthusiastic individuals with a can do attitude that have the ability to work within our friendly units and teams. You must also be committed to undertake ongoing in-service training and further development is essential. You should be motivated, keen to learn and ready to embrace change and service improvement.
