Full Job Description

We are currently seeking a Senior Innovation Developer for a permanent position in Severn Beach, Bristol. In this role, you will play a crucial part in leading and inspiring the creative process, developing prototypes and new concepts, and driving the investigation and commercialization of cutting-edge technology at a rapid pace. You will also be instrumental in fostering significant collaborations and partnerships with customers, while emphasizing the inventive and innovative elements of being a technologist. Your strong technical expertise in areas such as mechanical, electrical, or software development will be a valuable addition to our team. Join us and contribute to driving innovation forward!,

  • Have an interest in, and be involved in, a variety of technologies from plasma source development or thermal control using additive manufacture to the implementation of virtual reality and sustainability initiatives.

  • Understand the difference between a product for market release and a technology prototype, and therefore define what to include and exclude for each.

  • Produce prototype demonstrators quickly by exploiting simulation techniques, 3D printing or other rapid prototyping techniques.

  • Communicate effectively with senior management, peers, marketing and sales teams on project technical decisions and product benefits.

  • Proactively drive the design and development of new ideas that can make a difference.

  • Support the Team Leader in managing the team and projects.

  • Define and implement safe working methods.

  • Influence the behavioural safety of your team through your own example, setting high standards and expectations for those around you.

    A Senior Innovation Developer must be a skilled innovator. A clear background in development is preferred, so a developing portfolio or industry track record of innovation is important.

  • Degree or higher qualification in Physics, Engineering, or similar discipline.

  • Experience in computing or simulation is also an advantage.


  • Professional Skills/Abilities:
  • An insatiable curiosity and focus on completing and reporting investigations.

  • Possess a solid understanding of general physics and engineering principles. A good knowledge of plasma physics relevant to the semiconductor processing market would be beneficial.

  • Be able to demonstrate a natural, logical problem-solving ability.

  • Experience of significant involvement in development projects from inception to market delivery with a demonstrable ability to plan ahead to meet business objectives.

  • Demonstrate the ability to think broadly and adopt and/or adapt technology or understanding from other fields of interest to create future business opportunities and communicate their potential to peers.

  • Experience talking to customers and stakeholders in a way that establishes key needs to spec minimum a viable product or technology demonstrator.

  • Be computer literate including familiarity with coding and coding methods, methodical and organised, and be familiar with modern project management practices (e.g. Agile and waterfall).

  • Proactively developing ideas or product concepts to address an often ill-defined but essential customer 'need'.
