Full Job Description

As a key member of the leveraged credit sales team, you will work with a team of traders and analysts to build and maintain relationships with dedicated Leveraged Credit Funds and specialist Hedge Funds active in the European Leveraged Credit market.

The purpose of this role is to act as a strategic advisor to our clients, as you will be recognized as the subject matter expert within European High Yield (HY) products.

This is a rare opportunity to be a member of a highly rated and profitable franchise, with responsibility for primary exposure to a top tier client list that has the potential to significantly increase revenues.

What you will do will be varied day to day, but the key drivers for the role are:

  • Primary Coverage of HY Funds and focussed Leveraged Credit Opportunity Funds with relationship management, secondary trade idea generation and execution in cash and synthetic products being at the core of the role

  • Develop marketing materials - including HY bond, loan, colour provision, explanations of complex situations

  • Work closely to understand client needs with the aim of increasing client satisfaction and Citi revenue, through the maintenance of existing relationships but also by driving new client partnerships across the franchise, driving P&L, providing market colour, and generating trade ideas.

  • Syndication of Primary Bond Issuance where relevant, utilising close relationships with banking and syndicate deal teams

  • Refine and implement sales/marketing strategy to improve Citi's client footprint and maximize associated revenue while working with management/colleagues to establish a clear marketing plan with defined priorities, market penetration and revenue goals

  • Advise team in strategic positioning and closing transactions with various internal stakeholders (trading, legal, credit and risk etc.).

  • Forge a relationship with Citi Banking and Citi Private Banking to leverage Citi's franchise.

  • Lead strong governance and controls through close partnerships with control functions such as Legal, Compliance, Market and Credit Risk, Audit, Finance to ensure appropriate governance and control infrastructure.

  • Obtain and maintain all registrations/licenses which are required for your role, within the appropriate timeframe., Under the Certification Regime, Citi UK regulated entities (Citi entities) must ensure that employees working in certain roles categorised as specified significant harm functions (Certified Roles) are assessed as fit and proper to carry out their role.

  • In order to comply with the requirements of the Certification Regime, Citi entities must take reasonable care to ensure that an employee does not perform a Certified Role without first being certified as Fit and Proper. For this reason, you will be assessed for this role against the Fit and Proper requirements, as described above.

    This assessment will be carried out through extensive interviews, self-disclosures, permitted criminal record checks, regulated reference checks, credit checks and other background screening checks.

  • You will need to have had a client facing role working with Spread Products and have relevant experience covering EU Leveraged Credit Managers and Credit Hedge Funds ideally including CLO and HY exposure.

  • Ideally top 3 relationships with multiple large dedicated HY Funds and the ability to replicate quickly with new priority funds.

  • Detailed knowledge of primary / secondary and macro trends, credits, loan, CDS and Credit Index trading, restructuring processes and risk management.

  • Ability to interact with trading and analyst teams, and also establish and manage relationships with other internal teams e.g. risk, closing, syndicate.

  • Excellent communication skills required to negotiate internally, and externally often at a senior level.

  • Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience
