Full Job Description

This role will require the successful candidate to work at the New National Rehabilitation Centre (NRC), due to open in Summer 2025. The NRC will be a new, purpose-built 70-bed facility which will be built on the Stanford Hall Rehabilitation Estate near Loughborough, delivering a centre of excellence to improve rehabilitation services in England. It is co-located with the Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre and will share some of the world class rehabilitation facilities.

Recognised Speech and Language Therapy Degree Qualification

Health Professions Council License to Practice

Registered member of RCSLT

The post-holder will be required, from time to time, to travel out from the base to attend training events, meetings, and domiciliary visits.

Uniform will be provided, and any equipment needed for the job role.

There may be an additional requirement to work some weekends and bank holiday rotas as part of a 7 day service

Knowledge, Training and Experience

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, demonstrated through writing, planning, audits, policies and guidelines

Highly developed auditory and perceptual skills in the assessment diagnosis and treatment of service users

Able to use knowledge and make judgements in order to contribute to Speech and Language Therapy service delivery and development

Autonomous, motivated individual able to work under pressure and without direct supervision

Developing experience in the delivery of training and staff development programmes.

IT skills

Experience as a student or as a volunteer in specialist area/awareness of issues involved in that specialist area

To provide a Speech and Language Therapy service to adults with communication and swallowing disorders at Nottingham University Hospital Trust. This service covers Queens Medical Centre and City Hospital and serves a wide range of patients and specialisms.

To independently provide a Speech and Language Therapy assessment, formulation, intervention and advice service for people with communication and/or dysphagia needs, their families, carers, support staff and professionals.

To work as an integral part of a multi-disciplinary team across a variety of agencies and locations in order to maximise communication opportunities

To plan for and support the work of assistants and co-workers as part of the case management

To contribute to the development of and deliver of a range of training packages for health and education professionals, other agencies and families.
