Full Job Description

· Outpatient clinics for both functional and dementia patients
· MDT working with OACMHT and Memory Service Team based at Ty Siriol
· Home and care-home visits with CMHT and Memory Service MDT colleagues
· Inpatient support, in addition to junior doctor and consultants
The post holder will work alongside two fulltime Consultants in Old Age Psychiatry, supported by full multidisciplinary CMHT and Memory teams and a full-time GPVTS trainee doctor who is predominantly ward based.
The Speciality Doctor will be encouraged to participate in the health board psychiatric medical postgraduate education programme and support medical undergraduate teaching. There are also opportunities to participate in local multidisciplinary older adult mental health training initiatives and other training/teaching opportunities (eg care of the elderly and general medicine).
The Specialty Doctor will be expected to actively participate in regular medical and clinical audit within the service. They will be supported to undertake relevant CPD activities, identified through annual appraisal and job-planning.

The post will be based at Ty Siriol, County Hospital, Pontypool and is easily accessible from either Abergavenny or Newport areas. Ty Siriol is a purpose-built older adult mental health unit which houses a 20 bedded ward (Hafan Deg) for the specialist assessment and treatment of older adult functional inpatients. The ward is co-located with the Torfaen OA CMHT and Memory Assessment Service where the Consultant, Specialty Doctor, Senior Nurse, team and outpatient offices are also situated.
There are community hospital and general adult mental health services co-located on the County Hospital site. Please be advised that there is a temporary top up for Bands 1,2 and 3 to reflect the incorporation of the top up to the living wage of £12 per hour - £23,465 per annum.
